Spiffy’s Car Wash FAQ’s: How often should I have my car washed?

A: Truth be told, it’s probably a lot more often than you think…and definitely more often than you have time to break out that DIY car care kit. If your car is exposed to corrosive materials like salt, sand and industrial fall-out, it should be washed every 7 days. But, definitely not any less than once every 10 days. The same goes for vehicles in areas of high humidity (Hello Alabama weather). Moisture will attract various types of contaminants that can (and will) destroy your car’s finish.

Insect residue, tree sap and bird droppings should be washed off ASAP. These can form acids that immediately begin to eat at the car’s finish. Pollen is as bad for your vehicle as it is your sinuses. And, guess what? Pollen mixed with rain can be even worse, so do not rely on Mother Nature to clean off that nasty yellow powder.

Regular vacuuming of your automobile’s carpeting prevents grit from penetrating to the roots of the carpet. This grit can sever the fibers and greatly reduce the life of your carpeting.
